Thailand: Day 10

I am still in Bangkok, and it appears that I will be for ~4 more days! Two political parties siezed Suvarnabhumi International AP three days ago, and then Don Mueang Regional AP night before last. All international flights in Thailand depart from and arrive to Suvarnabhumi AP; I was scheduled to fly to Bangalore yesterday.

The protests and occupation are at least peaceful for now. No one in the occupation has weapons firearms, but have made spear-pointed baracades in the airline terminal, and t… Continue

Greatings from Thailand

Lampang, Thailand

Hello Dear Friends:

Thailand in general is a mix of complete chaos and very kind, peaceful people. I have been treated very kindly for no reason I think other than it is their nature to do so. I met with the manager of the Thai Elephant Conservaton Centre yesterday, and learned much about the issues pertaining to domestic elephant conservation and the implications on wild elephants and conservations lands; more later with images when I can get to a reliable con… Continue

Hi Ron -
Are by any chance from the DeLand area? DHS class of 75 or so? I remember a Chandler who took photos for the student newspaper and yearbook back then.

Hi Ron, How did the housewarming party go? Are you all settled in? I'm in town for the week. Once it stops raining, I'll head to the garden. I want to hear all about the trip to India and Thailand. Best, Mike

Hi Ron, I remember reading your awesome update yesterday and thought I might have responded but don't see it on here. You are doing a good work! I'd like to know more of your interest in mind-body-spirit. I also would like to invite you to join my new group, Environmental Zoo where you can express your concerns, solutions, ideas, or anything else you's like to share. See you there?

Ron,

Thanks so much for the amazing demo! I have only one (yeah, right...) question: why isn't everyone doing this obvious, great way of irrigation? I guess the best ideas are the simple ones. It's just a matter of time. But, hey - it makes so much sense. If you can smell water, then it's being wasted. But, 95% of sprinkled water is wasted? Shocking!

Thanks, aso for your generosity is providing all of us with hose to do the drip watering. I can't wait to rig mine up properly. Especially since I travel! What a godsend.

I bet if you gave your class regularly, you'd have a crowd.

Regards,

Michael

Diamond Sutra

The Buddhist text known around the world as the Diamond Sutra (although a more accurate translation of the Sanskrit title might be, for instance, the Vajra Cutter Sutra) is a short Mahayana sutra of the Perfection of Wisdom (prajna-paramita) genre, which teaches the practice of the avoidance of abiding in extremes of mental attachment.

Saṃsāra

Samsara (Sanskrit: संसार) is the endless cycle of suffering caused by birth, death and rebirth (i.e. reincarnation) within Buddhism, Bön, Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism, Vaishnavism and other related religions. According to these religions, one's karmic "account balance" at the time of death is inherited via the state at which a person is reborn.[citation needed] During the course of each worldly life, actions committed (for good or ill) determine the future destiny of each being in the process of becoming (evolution or devolution).

Solipsism

Solipsism is the philosophical idea that one's own mind is all that exists. Solipsism is an epistemological or ontological position that knowledge of anything outside the mind is unjustified. The external world and other minds cannot be known and might not exist. In the history of philosophy, solipsism has served as a skeptical hypothesis.

In 1996 he ran as a revolutionary communist within the structure of the Republican Party and lived to write a book about it, “Republican Like Me”. How to Make Chapatis (Indian flatbread)

Chapatis (Indian flatbread) are the perfect accompaniment to most Indian dishes. Learn how to make them with this step-by-step photo tutorial on making Chapatis. Don't be fooled by the number of steps there are in this tutorial because making a single Chapati from start to finish, takes 1 1/2 to 2 minutes at the most! Chapatis are not difficult to make but the old saying "Practice makes perfect" was probably written for them.
