A Journal, some Coffee and an Idea

All you need is paper and pen. Capture those thoughts. Create! It's energizing, cathartic, fun! Wherever you are, whatever your situation, you have a way to express yourself that you can enjoy and share with others. It lasts as long as you want. It's as private as you wish. You can create your world as you like it. What more could you ask for?

There are formulas for fiction, schematics for documentaries, rules of the road. There are also no rules you have to follow, if that's what you want. e.e. cummings hated capitalization. Hemingway wrote short, terse sentences. Bukowski splattered his pages with profanity.

This group is for people who love writing. It's a place to share tips, ideas and ask questions. Feel free to bounce your snippets off your friends here. Invite people you think would enjoy discussing the art and magic of writing. You only have the moment, that's guaranteed. Nothing else is for sure...

Figurine

They whirled below me, happy, heartless, free,
While I was left alone, all to myself,
They danced, they sang, they even called to me;
I did not hear them, standing on my sheslf
Of sorrow, hanging high upon a wall
Of solemn, rigid wood; I watched that crowd
Below me, gliding through their spacious hall,
I would not join them, I was much too proud.
But suddenly the nailed shelf gave way,
I left it and went reeling through the air,
I fell amidst the others, shattered clay,
I looked about, then soon became aware
That once I was too high upn a wall
To feel the joy of others in the hall.

a little diddy i wrote a long time ago
still waiting on that wish

I look into the well
I've tossed my coin
I watch the ripples swell
With my wish they are gone

Michael,
I just read your article on Being Slow. Being Slow can be so worthwhile when roasting the wonderful coffee you describe. I want some now...

Diamond Sutra

The Buddhist text known around the world as the Diamond Sutra (although a more accurate translation of the Sanskrit title might be, for instance, the Vajra Cutter Sutra) is a short Mahayana sutra of the Perfection of Wisdom (prajna-paramita) genre, which teaches the practice of the avoidance of abiding in extremes of mental attachment.

Saṃsāra

Samsara (Sanskrit: संसार) is the endless cycle of suffering caused by birth, death and rebirth (i.e. reincarnation) within Buddhism, Bön, Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism, Vaishnavism and other related religions. According to these religions, one's karmic "account balance" at the time of death is inherited via the state at which a person is reborn.[citation needed] During the course of each worldly life, actions committed (for good or ill) determine the future destiny of each being in the process of becoming (evolution or devolution).

Solipsism

Solipsism is the philosophical idea that one's own mind is all that exists. Solipsism is an epistemological or ontological position that knowledge of anything outside the mind is unjustified. The external world and other minds cannot be known and might not exist. In the history of philosophy, solipsism has served as a skeptical hypothesis.
